MASTHEADS.ORG'S F.A.Q.

+ + + + +

1. How do I pay for my subscription by credit card without PayPal?

Click here to pay by credit card >>

Your account login & password will be activated and sent to you within 2 hours (on regular working days).

2. How do I cancel my Mastheads.org subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at ANYTIME here:
http://www.mastheads.org/subscriptioncancel.htm

OR you can also cancel your subscription in your PayPal account.

Go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab. Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull-down "Show" menu and press the "Submit" button. Choose the subscription creation for Mastheads.org, and click on its "Details" link. You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel your subscription.

Canceling your subscription will immediately stop all future scheduled payments for this subscription within 24 hours. Mastheads.org is not responsible for subscriptions that are not cancelled before the next billing period.

3. Do you list individual e-mail addresses for the editors?

We list company e-mail formats, not individual e-mail addresses. For example: first.last@magazine.com.

Editors generally use the company format, but in some cases they don't, and we can always help you dig up their e-mail address. Just create a help ticket here and send us their full name, job title, and publication.

4. I basically want to mass e-mail thousands of editors at one time. Can your site help me do this?

No, sorry. Mastheads.org was built for people who need to send specific material to specific magazine contacts, and who need a budget-friendly way to do this. If you need a mailing list and have lots of cash to burn, you should try one of the many, great mailing list providers out there, including BurrellesLuce, Bacon's Information, and our personal fave--The Bulldog Reporter. You can usually get 200+ contacts/e-mails for $175 and up.

5. Why don't you list the magazine I work for? If we send it, will you post it?

Why, yes. Just send us the masthead and an authorized contact at the magazine (if possible) we'll add you to the directory. We rarely reject mastheads, but if we're not familiar with your publishing company, you must be able to prove circulation and send us a hard copy of an issue before we post your title.

6. Why do you charge for site access? I should be able to view these for free.

It takes time, manpower, and resources to keep this machine going, and we hope to expand the catalog to meet the growing needs of professional writers, editors, and media reps out there. While we would love to run it for free, we can't. However, we think it's pretty low-cost. At $2.00 a month, Mastheads.org is affordable for anyone serious about breaking into publishing.

7. OK, but I'm still hell-bent on getting FREE access. What can I do?

Just contribute! Contribute a masthead for a magazine we don't have yet, and you get access to all the others for one whole month! Or you can become a regular contributing editor and enjoy free access all year long. Click here to contribute and get FREE access >>

8. I e-mailed you, why don't you answer back?!

We obsessively answer e-mails--so if we didn't answer within a week, we might have deleted it on accident. Please send it again! Or create a help ticket here to guarantee a response within 24 hours.

9. How do you get your staff updates?

Our masthead listings match print mastheads in the magazine. When we get a tip on a staff change, we update it with a note on the masthead. We are working on building long-lasting relationships with publishers and checking in with a verified staff contact at each publication on a regular basis.

10. We have a PR firm. Can the ten of us share one login membership?

No, sorry. Login accounts are for single-users only, which means if there are multiple attempts to login from different locations or computers at the same time, the account will be locked and canceled. If you are with a firm and need 10+ login accounts, we can set it up for you at a discounted rate. Contact us for more information on corporate rates: info[at]mastheads.org

11. We have an advertising firm. Do you publish business-side mastheads?

Yes, most of our mastheads do list business/publishing mastheads as they are printed in the publication. It's either below the editorial information or linked to another page on the bottom of the editorial masthead.

12. I lost my site password. Can you send it to me?

Yes, just send us an e-mail with your full name and your username from the e-mail that you registered with and we'll re-send your login details. The login page also automates this process--just type your e-mail address into the lost password box.

13. I want to become a paid member but I'm afraid you'll sell my info to other companies. What's your policy?

We don't share or sell any member information with third parties, ever.

14. I'm looking for [this person] at [this magazine]. Can you help?

YES, we're always happy to help members locate people or the correct editor for a pitch or query. Just be sure to be specific when asking a question or making an info request. We'll try to answer your request as quick as possible. We have many contacts, and we can even help you find an editor or contact at a magazine that we do not list yet.

15. Mastheads is a super-fly resource--we love it. How can we support you beyond just paying for membership?

Just spread the word to all the media people you know and we'll love you forever. You can also volunteer and/or buy all your magazines at Mastheads.org's Magazine Loft (magloft.com).
